The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive became EC law in February 2003 and became UK law in August 2005.

Online Systems (UK) Ltd is working with many end users to help them become WEEE compliant. The new law will encourage the safe disposal of old electrical equipment, including PCs, through recycling and refurbishment.
We still believe that there is value in most redundant equipment and continue to purchase it for reuse and to recycle and recover value for our clients.
Our services include:
Assessment and evaluation of electronic equipment for best disposal route to minimise hardware disposal costs and environmental impact and maximise recovery value.
Deinstallation and disposal of end of life IT Equipment, Communications Equipment and Process Control Systems including DEC Computer recycling.
Secure Data Erasing to US 5220.22M of magnetic media and hard disks, data destruction or physical destruction of items as required.
Environmentally Friendly Disposal:
All computer equipment, monitors, batteries, TV's, fluorescent tubes, fridges and (WEEE), must now be disposed of in a way that is environmentally and ecologically friendly. Online Systems (UK) Ltd ensures that all equipment is recycled greenly. Our procedures exceed current environmental legislation, with no waste material going to landfill.
Data Protection:
We are happy to work to your department's or company's security criteria as well as employing our own high level data protection procedures. Our objectives are to protect your data from falling into the public domain and to ensure that you do not infringe the data protection act, which states that it is your responsibility to prevent the unauthorised access, alteration or accidental loss or destruction of personal data. All magnetic media sent to us such as CD DVD and optical disks, floppy disk drives and data tapes are destroyed physically and will not leave our premises in a recoverable format. We wipe clean all drives for reuse to US Dept of Defence standard 5220.22M.
Hard disk drives that are faulty or have no resale value are also wiped if possible to US Dept of Defence standard before being physically destroyed and recycled for metals such as the aluminium that is used in the casing.
Please contact us now to discuss your particular data security requirements.
